Blogging the Bible- February 19

Acts 16-18; Proverbs 12:1-14

Everywhere Paul goes, he preaches. Everywhere Paul preaches, people respond to the Gospel. The easy answer is go everywhere, preach and people will respond. Too often we stay at home, keep our words to ourselves and let people live their own lives.

A lot of times I think we believe it is just going to happen on its own. Or we force our agenda in a situation. Paul did neither. There is a small section, often sped through because there isn’t a lot of action in it, in Acts 16 that I think explains a lot about Paul’s success in ministry. What marked Paul’s success is not his action, but his inaction.

Paul wanted to go to some new places. The Holy Spirit told him not to go to Asia. So he tried Bithynia, the Spirit of Jesus shut the door there. Paul’s knocking on different doors, when one opens for them to go to Macedonia.

We might have rushed to Asia or hurried into Bithynia, but Paul was patient and when he walked through the door marked Macedonia, God blessed his efforts with great fruit.

Knock on some doors this week. See which one(s) God opens for you.
