He loved me so

I was introduced to hymn I’d never sung before. The simple truth in the song is that He loved me so.

He loved, me so (me so), He loved, He loved me so;
He gave His precious life for me, for me, Because He loved me so.

The words, still rattling around in my brain this morning draw me to a modern worship song: “How He Loves” written by John Mark McMillan.

He is jealous for me
Loves like a hurricane
I am a tree
Bending beneath
The weight of his wind and mercy
When all of a sudden
I am unaware of these
Afflictions eclipsed by glory
And I realize how beautiful you are
And how great your afflictions for me

Oh how he loves us so
Oh how he loves us
How he loves us so

1 John 3:1, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”

Walking down Potomoc Street in Hagerstown yesterday on our way to Sarai’s birthday lunch, I noticed some graffiti (it looked intentional). On the wall of the building, inside of a heart, was written, “You are very well loved.”

I couldn’t say it any better myself. He gave His precious life for me (us, you, we, all), because He loved me (us, you, we all) so.
