Exhausted and Elated

The last two weeks have been “full throttle” kind of weeks for the Foster family. Two weeks ago we were packing up our house in Chicago and making the move to Maryland. There were long hot days of moving stuff, fixing stuff and closing down a wonderful 5 year chapter of our lives.

We made it to Hagerstown in time for our week of VBS. There were nights of fun teaching, games, music and food. With no particular responsibilities, I was able to roam and get to meet some of my new friends. I played some of the different games with the kids and provided an extra set of hands where they were needed.

Then Sunday happened.

As the band rehearsed for the morning, the music had the sound of an old fashioned revival. There was a good feeling with the music. We started our new series, Grow: a series through the book of James, yesterday and it was well received. I am amazed at even when I don’t feel like I delivered my best effort, God uses it for good. As we offered a time of response after the sermon, two ladies came forward to ask for prayer as they continue to deal with a number of different physical trials in their life. As the song continued three others came forward to confess Jesus as their Savior and follow in obedience with baptism. Wow! What a day!

My heart was full. The culmination of a crazy two week run that saw me bring my family to our new home and get them connected with others through VBS to seeing 3 give their lives to Jesus has left me a bit exhausted and elated at what God is doing here at CCH.
